ⅠAbout Xinjiang University

Xinjiang University, co-built by Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is a comprehensive national key university, ranking as one of the universities for national ‘double first-class’ (first-class) construction , ‘Project 211’ and the national Development of the Western Region. Xinjiang University has been selected into the national ‘111 Plan’, the Comprehensive Strength Improvement Project of universities in Central and Western China, the National Public Graduate Program for Building High-level Universities, the Chinese Government Scholarship receiving institutions for international students, the Outstanding Engineer Education and Training Program, the Outstanding Legal Talents Education and Training Program, the National Demonstration University for Deepening the reform of Innovation and Entrepreneurship education, and the first batch of scientific and technological achievements transformation and technology transfer base of universities and colleges. It is a member of the Central and Western ‘One Province, one School’ National Key Construction University (Z14) Alliance, as well as a member of the initiative of the China-Central Asian Countries University Alliance. Xinjinag University includes three campuses, namely Honghu Campus, Youhao Campus and Boda Campus.

There arethirteendisciplines in Xinjiang University, including philosophy, economics,law,education,literature, history, science, engineering,agriculture,medicine,management,artandinterdisciplinary, which covers the main fields of senior professional training and scientific research. At present, there are 3 national double first-class construction disciplines (Marxist theory, chemistry, computer science and technology), 3 provincial advantageous disciplines of ‘14th Five-Year Plan’ (mathematics, Chinese language and literature, and mechanical engineering) and 6 provincial innovative construction disciplines (law, geography, biology, ecology, electrical engineering and chemical engineering and technology) of ‘14th Five-Year Plan’;10disciplines (Chemistry, Engineering, Materials science, Environment and Ecology, Geo-science, Computer Science and Technology, General theory of Sociology, Mathematics, Agriculturalscience, Botany and Zoology) are in the top 1% of ESI worldwide. There are 16first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees,3category of engineering doctoral degree authorization,40first-level disciplines authorized for master’s degrees,22categories authorized for master’s professional degrees, and 13postdoctoral research mobile stations. The University has87undergraduate majors, and80majors (categories) recruit students in 2024, with73single majors and3main categories (including7majors). There are 38 state-level first-class undergraduate major construction points and 15 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points.

At present, there is one academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in Xinjiang university, with100teachers selected as national talents,2teacher teamsof ‘Huang Danian Style among Colleges and Universities’, 8 teachers as‘New Century Outstanding Talents Supporting Program’ of Ministry of Education, and 1 Cultural Famous Person & ‘Four First-Batch’ of Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee. There are 17 experts titled as ‘outstanding contributions’, 6 cultural industry leading talents and 13 reserve candidates of ‘National Special Support Program for High-level Talents’ at provincial level.

ⅡIntroduction to the Programme

The ‘High Level Postgraduate Programme’ is a sub-programme of the Chinese Government Scholarship Programme. Based on the principles of ‘individual application, institutional recommendation, expert assessment and selective admission’, it enrolls international students with excellent academic backgrounds, professional abilities and future development potentials.

ⅰ.Most courses for the scholarship recipients are taught in Chinese, with some in English. See the following part for the details of the majors.

ⅱ.Students who choose to study their courses in

English need to provide the Proof of English proficiency; for students who choose to study their courses in Chinese, the Chinese language level should at least reach HSK 4 at the time of registration. Scholarship students whose Chinese language level does not meet the professional learning requirements must participate in a Chinese language learning for one academic year.

1. For Master’s degree students: professional study scholarship will be provided with a term of 3 years.

2. For Doctoral degree students: professional study scholarship will be provided with a term of 4 years.

ⅲ.The duration of the scholarship is the length of study determined at the time of admission, including the duration of professional study and Chinese tutoring (1 year), and shall not be extended in principle.

ⅢApplication Requirements

ⅰ.The applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen in good health.

ⅱ.Academic qualifications and age requirementsforthe applicants:

（1）Those who apply for a master’s degree must have a bachelor’s degree and be no older than 35.

（2）Those who apply for a doctor’s degree must have a master’s degree and be no older than 40.

ⅲ.The Scholarship Includes:

（1）Exemption of registration fee, tuition fee and accommodation fee.

（2）The comprehensive medical insurance (to be purchased uniformly by the university after confirming the arrival registration date).

（3）The living expenses provided by the University on a monthly basis.

Note:Scholarship living expenses are given as living subsidies for students studying in China. The newly enrolled students can only receive the living stipend after the registration and confirmation of the registration materials.Students who register before 15^thwill receive full-month living expenses, and after the time will receive half-month living expenses.

ⅣHow to apply

1. Applicants need to log in to the official website of Xinjiang University at https://www.xju.edu.cn/, select“Organizational Structure,”choose the relevant college under“Teaching and Research Institutions,”inquire about supervisor information, contact the supervisor, and obtain a pre-admission consent letter indicating the supervisor’s agreement to accept them.

2. Applicantsneed toregister and complete the application information on the“Chinese Government Scholarship Information System for International Students in China”at https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/register (Please fill in “10755” for the number of the accepting institution, and select “B” for the type of studying abroad programme).

3. Applicantsneed tocomplete the application through the Xinjiang University International Student Management Platform at http://xju.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx. The school of International Cultural Exchange of Xinjiang University is entitled not to check the application materials if applicants fail to do so.

ⅤMaterials Required for Online Application

Applicants must fill in and submit the following application materials in Chinese or English:

ⅰ.Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form.

ⅱ.A copy of the applicant’s ordinary passport personal

information page.

ⅲ.Personal bareheaded 2-inch electronic photo.

ⅵ.Certified highest degree academic certificate (for

texts other than Chinese and English, a notarized translation in Chinese or English shall be attached).

ⅴ.Certified highest degree academic transcript (for

texts other than Chinese and English, a notarized translation in Chinese or English shall be attached).

ⅵ.Study and research plan in China (no less than

800 words).

ⅶ.Letter of recommendation from two professors or

associate professors in the student’s professional field.

ⅷ.Admission documents. When applying for a

postgraduate program or for academic education as a general or senior advanced student, an applicant shall provide the admission documents issued by the university of preference, including an admission letter, a pre-admission letter, or the invitation letter from a prospect supervisor (admission documents will serve as a priority of admission in granting the Chinese Government Scholarship).

ⅸ.A copy of Physical Examination Form for

Foreigners (the original form must be kept by the applicant). The applicant must receive the related examinations in strict accordance with the items required in the Physical Examination Form for Foreigners. The form will be regarded as invalid if there are missing items, or there is no photo of the person, or the photo is not stamped with a cross seal, or there is no signature/seal of the doctor and the hospital. The examination results are only valid for 6 months from the date of application.

ⅹ.Published Papers.

ⅹⅰ.Certificate of no criminal records issued by the

public security departments of the student’s country.

ⅹⅱ.Proof of English proficiency. If the HSK score

report (valid for 2 years) is obtained, please also attach it to the application materials.

ⅦAdmission and Notifications

ⅰ.Xinjiang University will organize experts to conduct an initial screening of application materials and online interviews. Candidates selected for provisional admission will be recommended to the China Scholarship Council for evaluation, and those who pass the evaluation will be admitted based on a competitive selection process.

ⅱ.In early July, the scholarship admission results will be announced.

ⅲ.Each scholarship recipient can only receive funding from one Chinese Government Scholarship program. If a scholarship applicant is admitted by multiple universities, the China Scholarship Council will only retain their scholarship qualification at one institution.

ⅳ.Scholarship recipients would not be able to change enrollment institutions after admission. Meanwhile, the major and duration of study shall not be changed, in principle.

ⅴ.Scholarships will not be reserved for those who cannot register in China before the enrolment deadline.

Note:Xinjiang University does not charge any intermediary fees for recruiting Chinese government scholarship students.
